We are hoping to spread the word about our next Advanced Manufacturing program offered in partnership with The Service Collaborative of WNY - due to start this September. We have a few funded spots left in this 18 week session. That opportunity is time-sensitive! So, please pass on the attached information to any young people you know who might be interested in 'making' or 'micro-manufacturing' or simply a new pathway towards higher paying entry level positions in Buffalo.
Program Overview
The Foundry's 18 week program will run in the afternoon, Monday through Thursday, from September 2020 through February 2021. We provide instruction focused on mastering the machines and new technologies in our makerspaces, and support advancement into full time local employment.
Enrolled participants will be:
- 17-25 years old (must turn 18 by the end of program),
- available afternoons Monday - Thursday from 9/20 - 2/21,
- interested in employment in computer assisted manufacturing.
During this last program cycle over the Winter, we began face-to-face here at The Foundry - then quickly pivoted online. The program instruction ended in Mid-June. Over half of the participants enrolled in that session have progressed into paid internships at innovative local industries. We are hoping to welcome back two of the students who completed the program as Teaching Assistants in future classes here in our shops and labs.
We're ready to transition to a hybrid model again this fall, but are really hoping to have students start with us on site! We will assess how to safely continue as we progress.
Please help us spread the word about this opportunity, and also stay tuned for more information about a new after-school program also starting this Fall.
