During the day and afterschool, the TechLab is used by students learning the basics of 3D printing, laser engraving, circuitry and electronics. At night and on weekends, our TechLab is available for Open Maker Hours and Adult DIY Classes. Volunteer supervisors who oversee Open Maker Hours have decades of collective experience. Come, work on a project with us!
Equipment (includes, but is not limited to):
- CO2 Laser Engraver (the "Red Monster")
- Computers - used primarily for 3D design work (Fusion 360, Meshmixer, VcarvePro)
- Glacial Summit 3D Printer
- GlowForge Laser (limit 30 min per month, with fee structure to use more frequently)
- M3D Micro Printers (3D printing for beginners)
- Soldering Stations
How to Access
- Everyone must enroll in a tech lab orientation prior to using any equipment in our shop - youth, maker businesses, and you! Scholarships are available for income-eligible participants.
- Make a Donation. We believe that cost shouldn’t be a barrier to makerspace access. Instead of imposing expensive monthly fees, we’re opting instead for a pay-what-you-can model. Your donation will keep our makerspaces open to everyone in the community, offset staffing costs, cover maintenance, and secure the upkeep of our building to create the inclusive and welcoming atmosphere of our shared spaces. - Notify Staff & Schedule a Visit. In order to get started, contact The Foundry staff. (Email: [email protected].) Staff will confirm your donation, note your completed safety class or orientation session, and then you will receive information about the process for signing up for time blocks during Open Maker Hours.

Planning for your Visit
- Please sign up in advance for makerspace hours during the times listed using our reservation system.
- You must book 8 hours in advance. This gives the supervisors a heads-up about who to expect.
- Time slots are first come, first served.
- You can book slots up to 2 weeks in advance.
- Must be 18 or older to attend independently, but youth as young as 14 may access our tech lab with parent/guardian supervision.
- A wide variety of donated and reclaimed components of all shapes and sizes are available for electronics projects. We have boards, LEDs, and a soldering station. There is a Museduino, some Arduinos, and countless options for learning and tinkering. Supporters are expected to provide their own components as needed beyond the basics.
