Makerspaces for All
The Foundry's makerspaces serve hundreds of students, entrepreneurs, and community groups each year, fulfilling a wide range of educational, small business, and neighborhood needs. In addition to our regularly scheduled programs, we offer Open Maker Hours where anyone can come to learn and use tools for their projects.
We believe that makerspaces, as community resources, should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their background or financial situation. However, maintaining these spaces is expensive. We seek to collectively raise enough funds to keep our makerspaces operational, covering staffing costs, running programs, and performing necessary maintenance on our facilities.
How to Access Makerspaces
1. Complete Our Safety Orientation
Everyone must enroll in the correlating safety orientation before using equipment in our shop, regardless of age or business type. Check our class list to sign up. Scholarships are available for income-eligible participants; email [email protected] to apply.
2. Make a Donation
Cost shouldn't be a barrier to accessing our makerspace. We use a pay-what-you-can model instead of expensive monthly fees. Your donation helps maintain our spaces and support staffing while ensuring The Foundry remains an inclusive and welcoming environment.
3. Notify Staff & Schedule a Visit
Contact The Foundry staff at [email protected] to confirm your donation and complete the safety class. You’ll receive information on scheduling time during Open Maker Hours.
Open Maker Hours are Monday 6-9pm and Saturdays 9-1pm.
