Upcoming Classes at The Foundry

You can become part of our community and help us empower the next generation of entrepreneurs and makers. By taking a class at The Foundry, you are not only supporting the small businesses in residence to continue to grow and prosper, but your class fees also assist in funding our youth programs!

 

 


Makerspaces for All - Open Maker Hours

Mondays 6:00-9:00pm | Saturdays 9:00am-1:00pm

The Foundry's makerspaces are used by hundreds of students, entrepreneurs and community groups every year for a wide range of educational, small business and neighborhood needs. In addition to regularly scheduled programming, we have Open Maker Hours where you can come to learn more and use tools for your projects!

 

 


 

Now Enrolling Semester Youth Programming

Youth Entrepreneurs Program

For Highschool Age Youth (9-12th grade)

Tuesdays and Thursdays
September 20th - December 20th 2022
Program Time: 4:00-6:00pm
*Saturday December 10th - students will also be asked to attend and sell at our annual Holiday Market

Making & Manufacturing Workforce Development Program

For Out-of-school Young Adults (ages 18-25)

Mondays through Thursdays

September 26th - December 22nd 2022

Program Time: 12:30-3:30pm

In this training program at The Foundry, students ages 18-25 learn about using tools for small-batch manufacturing, computer assisted design and machining (metal fabrication, CO2 lasers, 3d printers, CNCs). Students who complete the program successfully qualify as Certified Manufacturing Associates (a ToolingU-SME certification). Graduates of the program select a 4 week long paid internship placement at a partnering manufacturing company.

Welcome Development Director

Join us in welcoming our new Development Director, Melissa Rechin! An avid maker and crafter herself, Melissa joins us from the WNY Book Arts Center, where she spent the last 5 years overseeing their communications strategy and artist retail operations. She is excited to be working on various grant writing and donor relations strategies - spreading The Foundry's mission so that all types of folks can experience maker education & opportunities.

Volunteer Opportunities

Garden Volunteers: The Garden Committee is once again looking for volunteers to water the gardens and help on gardening days. Other gardeners come on Wednesday afternoons, but if you’re looking for flexibility and volunteering on your own time, the committee can set you up with specific tasks! Fill out the form to get started.

Shop Supervisors: Open Maker Hours are Mondays 6-9pm and Saturdays 9-1pm. If you are skilled in wood, metal, tech or textile - please reach out! We are asking for 1 volunteer shift per month (you select what time and what shop works for you). Email [email protected] if interested.
