Youth Development Coach Position Description
Description: Join us to support the next generation of makers, artists, scientists and engineers! The Foundry is seeking a Youth Coach to support highschool students in our afterschool program by listening to, loving and learning about them. This part-time opportunity includes attending training and a commitment of at least one semester of after school programming Monday through Thursday. This staff member will be responsible for ensuring a safe and fun learning environment for youth throughout the school year and will report to our Director of Curriculum and Instruction.
Duties Include:
- Work with our Director of Curriculum and Instruction to ensure all high school after school programming can function successfully onsite at The Foundry
- Be a mentor to our highschool youth - listening, loving and learning
- Take attendance/setup snacks, greet students pre-program, create pre-program youth development opportunities
- Communicate any student challenges and/or needs to Director of Curriculum and Instruction
- Participate in professional development trainings (at least 2x per year)
Qualifications:
- Enthusiasm for young people and general understanding of youth development
- Desire and ability to relate to and continue learning about growing occupational fields, relevant equipment and emerging products
- Must be a good communicator and maintain confidentiality with students/staff
- Must commit to a Monday-Thursday 3-6pm schedule (±30 min), plus a brief weekly check-in with our Director of Curriculum and Instruction.
This is a part time position, ~12 hours per week, starting at $17/hr. All Foundry staff are able to utilize our makerspaces for their own projects during non-work time as a perk to working for our organization.
