First Friday Foundry News - February Edition

Greetings Foundry Family!

It's been quite a while since sending out one of these updates (in the before times they went out weekly with scheduling information) but for now I plan to send one wrap up a month just to keep everyone in the loop.

WHICH MEANS if you have something to share - let me know! I have sent most of the information below to various people on this list but here it is in one place.

REMINDER to those coming into The Foundry - keep on signing in everytime you are in the building - and please remember to wear your mask(s) in the public spaces.

STAY SAFE. STAY WARM. STAY HOME (at least this weekend if you are getting snowed in!)
Onward!

Press Release: The Foundry Receives $100k Grant for FoundryMade

Buffalo’s makerspace and business incubator excited to expand programming for young adults

BUFFALO, NY –  The Foundry will be receiving a grant from the First Niagara Foundation in partnership with KeyBank to expand workforce development opportunities through the launch of a social enterprise, FoundryMade.

FoundryMade is an expansion of The Foundry’s current workforce training program which provides young adults ages 18-25 with employable skills in computer-assisted design and manufacturing. The social enterprise will further utilize The Foundry’s on-site makerspaces to produce and sell items, providing students with paid opportunities to practice the skillsets they’ve developed. Students will get a chance to experience what it takes to run a successful enterprise and learn about viable career options in manufacturing, making, and entrepreneurship.
